In the Jungle, we offer three different lodges owned and operated by indigenous communities of the Amazon basin combined with the project "Turismo Ecologico Social" TES.  Your visit to the jungle and savannas include a professional and experience guide that you can count on 24 hours a day.

TES - Turismo Ecologico social is a day in the life of three communities, Nuevo Horizontes, Playa Ancha and El Cebu.  You will experience the local industry of each villages such as the production of art material, forest management, reforestation management and local food production such as marmalade, wine and great chocolate.  All products are super organic!  Departure from Rurrenabaque @ 7:30am - Return to Rurrenabaque @ 5:30pm.  All included, you just need pocket money in case you may want to by local products.

Albergue San Miguel is by far our favourite choice. The lodge is located less than one hour by dugout canoe from the town of Rurrenabaque located on the very edge of Madidi National Park.  Staff are all community members and trained in first aid.  Capacity 29 persons.  Camping area available for larger group.

Activities: 

  • 34 Kilometres of guided interpreted trails exploring life the rain forest, Madidi is the most bio-diverse area in the world, species have yet to be discovered, your stay include translation service Spanish / English,

 

  • Trekking and observation of wildlife, beautiful butterflies, swimming at a natural pool, traditional hunting techniques and trapping, relaxing at the lodge and cultural activities in the village of San Miguel,

 

  • Nocturnal walks to observe different species of mammals and amphibians.

Accommodations:  Tacana traditional style cabins built mostly with local material found in the jungle.  All cabins are fully furnished and equipped with mosquito nets.

  • Seven cabins each equipped with three single beds and private bath, one dormitory with eight single beds and shared bathrooms (under construction),

 

  • Kitchen with professional chef offering typical / traditional and vegetarian cuisine,

 

  • Library, traditional round-house including bar service, study room equipped with hammocks and lazy chairs,

 

  • The infrastructure offers comfortable boat transportation, potable water, complete electrical service, treatment of waste water and recycled waste.


Chalalán is located in the Madidi National Park on the shore of Chalalán lake less than six hours by dugout canoe up the Beni and Tuichi River.  Staff are all community members.  Capacity 27 persons.  Camping area available for larger group.

  • The infrastructure offers comfortable boat transportation, potable water, solar power, treatment of waste water and recycled waste.


Albergue Mapajo is located in the Biosphere of Pilon Lajas three hours by dugout canoe up the Beni and Quiquibey River.  Albergue Mapajo is the largest tree in the jungle protecting all other trees beneath it.  Staff are all community members.  Capacity 17 persons.   Camping area available for larger group.

Activities:

  • 20 Kilometres of guided interpreted trails exploring life the rain forest of Pilon Lajas adjacent to Madidi offering the largest bio-diversity in the world, species have yet to be discovered.  Your stay include translation service Spanish / English,

 

  • Observation of wildlife, birds, colourful butterflies, swimming in the river and enjoy relaxing at the lodge, indigenous cultural activities at the lodge and the local village,

 

  • Nocturnal walks and river trip to observe different species of mammals and amphibians.

Beni river to Mapajo

Accommodations:  Mosetenes / Tsinames traditional style cabins built mostly with local material found in the jungle.  All cabins are fully furnished and equipped with mosquito nets.

  • One cabin with a double bed, single bed and private bathroom, one family cabin with 6 single beds and private bathroom, four cabins with 2 single beds and shared bathrooms,

 

  • Kitchen with national, international and vegetarian cuisine,

 

  • Library, traditional round-house or shipa, study room equipped with hammocks and lazy chairs,

 

  • The infrastructure offers comfortable boat transportation, potable water and recycled waste.

PAYMENT OPTIONS

What we recommend that you bring:  Equipment for humid tropical weather to trek and travel by boat.

Important.  You should have:  1 medium size back pack for trekking, long sleeve cotton shirt and pants, light jacket or wind breaker, hat, hiking boots, sandals, swimsuit, rain poncho, sunscreen, bug repellent, flashlight and fully charged camera and video equipment in protective (very important) casing.  The temperature can be as low as 16 Celsius during July, August, September and October.

All is included, transportation, guide, translation services, food and entrance to the protected areas.  Alcohol beverages not included.
