Newsletter 2007
Year 2007 was the beginning year of Madidi Amazon Travel. We returned from a short vacation to Palm Beach, Florida in mid-January.
First and foremost, more fine tuning was done on our web site.
We attended various meetings at the offices of the Biosphere of Pilon Lajas and other locations in Rurrenabaque on various topics raging from resource management to tourism, to production and marketing of Jatata, a local material for roofing. A long time and special on-going relationship with the indigenous folks of the upper Quiquibey River permitted us to explore other tourism product for the area.
In February we built an exceptional relationship with a group of Mennonites in Ixiamas. A very great bunch of people The Beilerīs family. They are the owner of a beautiful homestead outside of Ixiamas, literally a little paradise.
The month of March to the end of April was spent on creating a poster to send to overseas travel agencies. With the final touch done at the end of May, we prepared ourselves for the shipment of 500 posters to 250 agencies in England, Ireland, USA and Canada. That was completed with great success at he end of July.
In June, we began the translation of our site to French. http://parc-madidi.madidi-amazon.com which was completed in late October.
In August, Marcel took a very nice vacation to the Beilerīs farm for 17 days. Several little trip took place up the Quiquibey river to visit and relax.
A little piece of property (5 hectares) was purchased just outside of town close to the airport. Our next step is to buy a lot in the centre of town 2 blocks o so away from the river.
In November, we began the translation of our site to Spanish, and that is still under construction by the end of year 2007.
In December, the work continues on the Spanish part of the web site and thank you to Caracoles for helping us with internet access
